Local HKonJ Coalition

The Historic Thousands on Jones Street (HKonJ) Coalition, Raleigh, North Carolina kicked off its first annual “HKonJ People’s Assembly” in February of 2007 when over 3,500 supporters sanctioned and signed the coalition’s “HKonJ 14-Point People’s Agenda” (with detailed action steps). The HKonJ Coalition transformed the 14-Point People’s Agenda into comprehensive reform bills that have been introduced in legislative sessions. 2020 will mark the 13 th year of the Coalition.

The Fayetteville Local HKonJ Coalition was organized in 2014 with approximately 10 non-profit organizations. The purpose of the local organization is to build a cohesive working group to address injustice and inequity on a local level. The group was also organized to promote Get-Out-to-Vote campaigns, voter registration, to educate residents on voter rights, changes in voting laws, and to provide a platform for voters to gain information about candidates running for local and state offices.
